Family History of Jacob H. Myer
Sometime in the early part of 1845, Jacob and Hannah Keeper Myer left the state of New Jersey and joined a wagon train bound for the promised land of gold, California. Somewhere along the way, Cholera struck the wagon train and traveling was hard so they decided to stop. this, the homestead in Bellews Creek, Missouri now known as Jefferson County became their home.
Ground was cleared by using oxen and a log house was built. Jacob was a farmer. He was skilled in grafting fruit trees and wine making. He made barrels and planted large grape vineyards.
Myer family cemetery is situated 1-1/2 miles directly north of Glade Chapel Church, on a farm, located between Goldman, Mo Glade Chapel road and Lake Tishomingo road, Jefferson County, MO. It is 6 miles from highway 21 on Lake Tishomingo Road.
