DIED at Three Rivers, MI, on the evening of the 8th inst., Charles S.(1) Converse, only child of Mrs. Clarence A. and A. R. Converse of this city aged four years.

"For the second time within a week(2) the house of Converse and Warren has been draped in mourning for the dead. This time the family of Mr. A. R. Converse has been visited by the arch destroyer. Charlie, the idol of his parents, Charlie Converse, beloved by all who knew him, is no more. He has gone above to join the angels' throng, whence he will send glad tidings to his sorrow stricken parents. We trust that Mr. and Mrs. Converse may find consolation in their deep affliction; we know from experience how hard it is to part with our little ones, to sever the heartstrings which bind us to our darlings; but sooner of later we must part, and those of our dear ones who have gone before, will be waiting for us to join them in the spirit land.

"Charlie was a bright lad, intelligent beyond his years, and of a very affectionate and loving nature, which made him a favorite among his father's friends. Many times have we noticed the great love that was bestowed upon him by his parents, how every wish was gratified almost before spoken, how thoroughly their very being seemed to be wrapped up in their only child(3). We have often shuddered to think of the consequences of a forced parting between parents and child, and wondered whether in the dispensation of a Divine Providence it could be ordained that so much love, so great an affection and so self absorbing a devotion, as was being manifested between Mrs. Converse and her boy, Charlie, should be interrupted by a sudden parting, by the intervention of death. This decree, however, has gone forth. Charlie has been taken hence, his angel's spirit has left its earthly abode and today he is a member of that joyful throng who join in beautiful melodies before the throne of the great Jehovah, an all-wise and all-merciful God.

"May the parents of Charlie Converse take comfort from this thought, and may they gradually become accustomed to think of their boy as far happier, than he could have been had he stayed with them here to the end of their days."
