Bonnie Belle Smith, 85, of Thornton passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Fairmont General Hospital.

She was born December 30, 1926, in Thornton, daughter of the late James Francis and Nancy Elizabeth Skiles.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Harry Smith in October 2002.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family and is survived by two sons, David Daniel Smith and wife Jeanie, Grafton, and Dannie Lee Smith and wife Donna, Canton, OH; one daughter, Mary Ann Hall and companion Chuck Hall of Thornton; eight grandchildren, Scott Smith, Christal Smith, Mike Smith, Bryan Smith, Jay Smith, Eric Smith, Phillip "PJ" Hall and Jennifer Gross, and Rick Spencer, M.D., who she thought of as a grandson;; five great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law, Daisy Skiles, Grafton; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Burl Skiles, George Skiles and James "Willie" Skiles; and two sisters, Beatrice Skiles and Pearl Skiles.

Bonnie was a homemaker, she loved to travel and listen to music. Some of her favorite places were, Canaan Valley, Blackwater Falls, the Smokies and the Cass Scenic Railroad.

She was a former member of the Brethren Church in Thornton.

Friends called at Bartlett Funeral Home from 2 p.m.-8 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, February 17, 2012, at 1:00 p.m., at the funeral home with the Pastor Torin Eikler officiating.

Interment at the WV National Cemetery.
