Mrs August M. Strecker, Mollie, daughter of Henry & Katherine E. Milberger nee Strecker was born 8 Jan 1870 in Eckheim, Russia. She died at her home at 423 W. 4th St., Russell on 20 Feb. 1954 at 10:30am, age 84 years, 1 month and 12 days. In 1876, she came with her parents to America and Russell county where her father took a homestead in the Milberger community. Shortly after getting settled, her mother died, being the first adult in this colony of settlers to be buried in the present Milberger cemetery. (?) Several years later the father moved the family to Hillsboro, Ks.. and lived there 2 years. Here the father met with a fatal accident with a threshing machine. Mollie made her home with her brother, J. J. Milberger for several years and later moved to Yanktown, S.D. Here she met and married August M. Strecker on 28 Dec. 1888. They had 10 children, 2 died in infancy. A few years after their marriage, they moved to Russell, he died 13 Oct. 1934. She made her home with her children.

She leaves children: Mrs. Carrie Dumler, Mrs. Elizabeth Wolf, Alexander Strecker, Mrs. Matilda Reed, Mrs. Nina Tittel, Edward A. Strecker, Mrs. Edith Bay, all Russell; Mrs. Mary Dumler, Salina; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren.
