Masonic graveside services were held for E.A. "Dutch" Treadaway, 83, on Sunday, Feb. 15. He passed away Friday, Feb. 13, at his home in Laguna Park. Treadaway was born in Welburton, Okla. on March 21, 1921. At an early age his family moved to Miles, Texas, where he grew up. The family consisted of seven boys and two girls. Treadaway loved Miles where he and his brothers hunted and fished. Treadaway, a member of the Methodist church, was a friendly person who made many long-lasting friendships where he lived and worked. He was a 50-year member of Fairfield Masonic Lodge. He was known by many as "The Can Man" as he collected cans for the children at Shriner's Hospitals. In over a seven-year period, he collected over $35,000 worth of cans. He held memberships in the Clifton Masonic Lodge, Fairfield Masonic Lodge, Waco Scottish Rite, Knight's Templar, Clifton Eastern Star #283, York Rite, and the Waco Karem Shriners. Treadaway fought a long battle with cancer giving all he could muster to live. He loved life, loved his family, and loved his kids. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, two sisters, and four brothers. Survivors include his wife, Azalee; two sons, Frank Treadaway and his wife, Fran, and Eddie Treadaway and his wife, Elizabeth; step son Gary Petterson and his wife, Linda; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two step grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; two brothers, Roy Treadaway and Stanley Treadaway; and a host of friends. Interment was held at Clifton Memorial Park with Clifton Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
