Funeral services were held for Thomas Floyd Lumpkin of Clifton on Monday, March 22, 2004, at the Clifton Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Donnie Bearden of Breckenridge officiating. Lumpkin was born on Dec. 20, 1919, in Greenoch to the late Joe Bailey Lumpkin and Zuela Lumpkin. He passed away on Saturday, March 20, 2004, following a brief illness. As a youth, he attended school at Merivale-Fairview School in the Fairview community, receiving great support and care from his aunt and uncle, Gladys and Frank Bearden. On Jan. 29, 1938, he married Ruby Moss of Valley Mills in Waco. He served his country during World War II with the U.S. Navy on the Pacific Front. He was preceded in death by his parents and great-grandson, Adam Selman. Survivors include his wife, two sons, Lloyd Lumpkin and wife, Peggy, of Valley Mills and Bobby Joe Lumpkin and wife, Roxie, of Hewitt; three daughters, LaVern Wilcox and husband, Tommy, of Clifton, Geneva Casey and husband, Albert of Clifton, and Sandra Clark and husband, Roger, of Valley Mills; brother, Clarence Lumpkin of Crawford; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were grandsons Stanley Wilcox and Bobby Dale Lumpkin; great-grandsons, Zackery Fehler, Brandon Selman, Lucas Fehler; and Jacob Fehler. Honorary pallbearers were great-grandsons Dustin Lumpkin, Chad Selman, and Jason Devels. Interment followed at the Clifton Cemetery with full military honors from Clifton American Legion and Clifton Veterans of Foreign Wars. Arrangements were made through Clifton Funeral Home.
