A timeline of documentary records indicates that John Thomas Carpenter, the son of Littleberry Carpenter and Cecilia May of Yazoo, MS, moved to ward 2 in Morehouse Parish, LA sometime before 1880 and supposedly after the death of his mother.
John Thomas’ grandmother, Theresa Horton Carpenter, (widow of William Carpenter, Jr 1797-1836) and her children had moved to the same location in Morehouse Parish prior to 1870.
It is of interest to note that several of these early Carpenter migrants to ward 2 Morehouse Parish are buried in Causey Cemetery.
Littleberry Carpenter’s spouse, Cecelia May was the daughter of Lafayette May & Mary Ann Causey.
