Alexander Lawson Sudduth was born in Greenville District, South Carolina. A.L. Sudduth and his brothers, Benjamin Perrine Sudduth and John Calhoun Sudduth immigrated to Oktibbeha County, Mississippi before 1850 where they appear on the 1850 Federal census.
By the 1860 census Alexander was married with three children. The 1870 census reveals that he & his wife Catherine had at least nine children. On the 1880 US Census Alexander & Catherine Sudduth are listed again in Oktibbeha County, this time the household records seven children and three grandchildren.
Alexander Sudduth farmed in this county until his death in 1897 at the age of 78 yrs. It is likely this small cemetery may have been located on the Sudduth family farm.
The 1900 US Census records that Catherine Sudduth was widowed and enumerated in the household of her daughter, Mariah Sudduth (Liles) in Oktibbeha County. She is listed as the mother of 15 children, with 11 living.
