Hannah was the daughter of Assistant Quartermaster General David Duncan, born October 20, 1735 in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania and died April 9, 1792 in Pittsburg, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania; and Margaret Pomeroy Hamilton, born about 1747 in Roxbury, Franklin County, Pennsylvania, died July 5, 1824 in Upper Blue Licks, Fleming County, Kentucky.

Married Major John Finley in 1790 at Fort Pitt in Pittsburg, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. Hannah gave birth to eight children.

Battle Run Cemetery is located at Upper Blue Licks. The Finley family home is on the Historical Register, and is located on Hill Top, near Ewing, Kentucky on Highway 57.
