Flying-Officer Dick Green suffered fatal injuries when a Mosquito T3 night-fighter trainer crashed on take-off at RAF Hucknall, Notts, on the afternoon of August 23rd 1947. His navigator, Flt-Lt Edgar Southall DFC, was injured and spent a fortnight in hospital in Nottingham. Dick was a member of 504 (City of Nottingham) Sqn, which was well-represented at his funeral in Sheffield, where he and his wife lived. (504 Sqn Ops Record Book).
