Arthur George Sprenkle was born in Hanover, PA on Feb. 21, 1881, the son of Hamilton Young Sprenkle and Anna Hoffman George. Arthur was one of the few artists in the Sprenkle families. He studied at the Pennsylvania Museum School of Industrial Art. While living in Los Angeles in the 1930s, he taught at the Chouinard Art School and was active there until his death on July 9, 1940. Arthur married Emma Louise Zoller, daughter of Henry B Zoller and Margaret Collins, on September 12, 1906 in Cumberland, Guernsey Co., OH.

Arthur and Emma divorced about 1920 and on November 25th, 1925 Arthur married May Cooper St. John. May was the widow of Edward M St. John and had two daughters:
