JOHNSONVILLE — Nolan Pops Thompson, 86, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008, at his home.
Mr. Thompson was born in the Prospect community, a son of the late Ollie and Thelma Hanna Thompson. He was retired from Willis Construction Co. after 40 years as a crane operator, a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, having served in the Ninth Infantry Division, a member of the Leo Masonic Lodge No. 310 and attended Prospect schools.

Surviving are his children, Lanny (Helen) Thompson of Johnsonville, Dean (Tom) Kelsey of Myrtle Beach and Sheila Jones of Clemmons, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Trey Campbell, Nicole Thompson, Sabrina Myers, Lanis Thompson, Tabitha Thompson, Kayla Jones and Kendall Jones; eight great-grandchildren, Dylan, Madison, Bailee, MacKenzie, Connar, Brayden, Jacob and Marlie; predeceased by a brother, Rudolph Thompson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008, in Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Hemingway with burial in Lake Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008.
