Ann Meriage, 91, a life-long resident of Midland, passed away on December 24, 2009, in Heritage Valley Medical Center, Beaver, of complications resulting from injuries suffered in a fall. Born May 25, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Yaich) Germanovich. She was married for 64 years to Michael Meriage, who died in 2006. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Marie Gabor and Ljuba Trobic, and brothers, Rodney Germanovich and Michael Mazine. Ann was salutatorian of the Midland's Lincoln High School graduating class of 1936. Also in 1936, she became a charter member of the Dr. Laza Kostich Singing Society of Midland. During her 73 years as an active member of the choir, she held a variety of offices including president, treasurer, financial secretary, and auditor. She was a steadfast supporter of the choir's many cultural activities, including concerts and church services. She also was an active member of the St. George Serbian Orthodox Church of Midland since its founding in 1949. Through the years she served a number of terms as financial secretary and on the audit committee. She spent many happy days helping support the Serbian Orthodox Eastern Diocese campgrounds at Shadeland, PA. Even at age 91, she remained one of St. George parish's most active members in supporting a variety of fundraising activities. Ann also was a member of the Midland Chapter of the Circle of Serbian Sisters, an organization dedicated to supporting the cultural heritage of the Serbian people. In addition to serving as the Midland chapter's president, financial secretary, and audit board member, she served on several occasions as a delegate at the organization's national convention. Surviving her are her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Lawrence P. and Lin Meriage; her daughter and son-in-law, Michele Ann (Meriage) and LeRoy Dennison; grandchildren, David S. Meriage, Dr. Tianna Meriage-Reiter, Beth Ann Yurkovac, Paul M. Yurkovac; great-grand children, David L. and Brendan Meriage, and Alexis Williams; a brother, Dr. Miles Jermaonvich; a sister, Sophia Orlovich; a brother-in-law, Paul Meriage; a sister-in-law Sally Chiff, and numerous nieces and nephews.
