ANDERSON, Emma A. - 94, Sherbrooke, Guysborough Co., died June 12, 1995, in St. Mary's Memorial Hospital, Sherbrooke. Born in Sherbrooke, she was a daughter of the late Capt. Charles and Elizabeth (Hawbolt) Murdoch. She was an ardent member of St. James Presbyterian Church; active in the former Ladies Aid and life member of Women's Missionary Society. Her activities included the Women's Institute; Florence Fraser chapter, Order of the Eastern Star 47, Sherbrooke; St. Mary's Rebekah Lodge, until its demise at which time she joined Sunlight Rebekah Lodge 110, East River St. Marys. She had been a member of the Rebekah Lodge for a total of 73 years. She was known as Aunt Em to those she knew. Surviving are a daughter, Helen Hartling, Liscomb, with whom she resided; sons, John A., Sherbrooke; Clarence and wife Marjorie, Halifax; Sister, Jean Bulpin, Halifax; grandson, Alex and wife Judy, Chester; three great-granddaughters; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Alexander; daughter, Margaret; brother, Arthur; sisters, Hazel, Lillian, Muriel, Anna, Laura. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, Rebekah service 8 p.m. tonight, funeral 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, all in St. James Presbyterian Church, Sherbrooke, Rev. Carol Smith and Rev. David Curry officiating. Burial to follow in Riverside Cemetery, Sherbrooke. A reception will follow in the church hall. Family flowers only. Donations to St. Mary's Memorial Hospital or St. James Presbyterian Church. Arrangements under the direction of Ecum Secum Funeral Home.
