In September, 1905, Claud Hawkins became the first President of Arkansas Holiness College in Vilonia, Faulkner County, Arkansas, where his tasks were to build a curriculum, choose a faculty, enlist students, raise finances and construct buildings. During its early history, the school was an interdenominational Christian college but later it received most of its support from the Church of the Nazarene. After 1909, Claud Hawkins left the school to take a teaching position in Tennessee but returned three years later and served as President again from 1912-1915.
