Mabel was one of seven children born to Louis G. Druehl (1848–1919) and Maggie White (1853–1944). After her father died in 1919 she and her mother moved to California, where she engaged in a variety of clerical jobs. Mabel never married; she died in Glendale in 1974 and was buried near her mother in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Note: Mabel had a cousin (1c1r), Mabel Ethel Druehl, who also lived in the Los Angeles area for many years. It was this Mabel who was married to Randolph Earl Bishop.
