In 1906 he married Pauline Adair in Omaha. While living in Omaha, Ramo started to work in the tobacco business for the Best & Russell Cigar Co. He moved to Kansas City and became the manager for General Cigar Co (B&R Cigar Co).
In 1924 the Cameron family moved to Topeka, Kansas where Ramo purchased the Mosby-Mack Motor Co. In 1929 he traveled to the Panama Canal to inspect their level system. Upon his return to Topeka, he formed the Kellner Jetties Corp, Marine Construction. In 1940 he sold the company to two of his nephews, Leroy and George Lucas.
The Cameron family moved to Los Angeles, California where Ramo continued working in the flood control construction business until 1950.
Upon retiring, Ramo and Pauline enjoyed traveling until his death on March 30, 1957.
