Violet Asbury Baxter, 83, of Columbus OH, passed away January 31, 2012. She was born May 15, 1928 at North Tazewell, VA and was a daughter of the late Bane and Rebecca Asbury. She was a graduate of Tazewell High School where she was a member of the Ladies Basketball Team.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Isaac Baxter ; three sisters, Willetta Spalding, Pansy Smith and Earnestine Dickens; two brothers, Walter Messer and Bane Asbury Jr.
Survivors include four sisters, Estelle Tinsley of North Tazewell, Marie Talbert of Wingate, NC, Mary Dove Cornwell and Cosby Ann Totten both of Thompson Valley, VA and one brother Charles "Newt" Asbury of Thompson Valley. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
A memorial service in celebration of life for Violet Asbury Baxter will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday February 25, 2012 at the Hurst- Scott Funeral Home in Tazewell, VA with the Rev. Danny Whitt officiating.
