Cheri was born March 5, 1955 and grew up in Chapmanville, graduating from Chapmanville High School. She served as secretary of Chapmanville Grade School in her younger years. Most recently, she and her husband were the propriators of The Big Ugly Mart at Leet on Big Ugly Creek in Lincoln County, West Virginia.
Cheri leaves behind many friends, family, and acquaintances who knew her as a kind and gentle, God-loving soul, always willing to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. Her talents as a seamstress were learned at a young age at her mother's side. She is well-known for her skills in the kitchen, home decoration, and gardening. Her gentle smile will be missed by her family and many friends.
Cheri was preceeded in death by both of her parents and her brother, William Hurst "Rocky" Gore. She is survived by her husband Jesse; her sister, Willania Gore (Buddy) Russell of Concord, North Carolina; her neice Christina Gore (Harry III) Polk of Gray, Tennessee; her sister-in-law, Judith Frye Gore (Alan) Wilson, of Eutawville, South Carolina; her nephew, Aaron Russell of Concord, North Carolina; her three grand neices Iris Marie Polk, Lily Alexandria Polk, and Ashlyn Rose Polk of Gray, Tennessee.
As per Cheri's request, a reception will be held at the Freeman Funeral Home in Chapmanville, West Virginia at 6 PM on Sunday February 26th, 2012. Rev Greg Dalton will give a short memorial message at 7 PM.
