ROCK HILL - Mr. Samuel White "Sam" Morrison, 67, of 164 Foxcroft Drive, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012, at Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, at Westminster Presbyterian Church Chapel, with Dr. Shelton P. Sanford III officiating. Burial will precede the service at 1:15 p.m. in Grandview Memorial Park-Hollis Lakes. The family will receive friends in the church parlor immediately following the service.
Sam was a native of Burlington, N.C., and a son of the late Lillie Hough and J. E. Morrison Jr. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and was retired from Yellow Freight Lines, where he was a long haul truck driver for over 20 years. Prior to joining Yellow Freight Lines, Sam was a driver for Celanese Corporation. He attended Isothermal College in Rutherfordton, N.C. Sam loved his country and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a sergeant in the 3rd Infantry Division and a graduate of the NCO Academy.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy "Dottie" Paul Morrison of the home; his stepson, Dennis Lee Sipple and wife, Mary Ann, of Meyersdale, Pa.; his stepdaughter, Doreen Lyn Pennek and husband, David, of Shepherdstown, W.Va.; two brothers, Rev. Allen E. Morrison and wife, Patsy, of Pilot Mountain, N.C., and Rev. Bill Morrison and wife, Betty, of Charlotte, N.C.; his sister, Carole Medlin, of York, S.C.; five grandchildren, Leigh Ann, Lanette, Bethany, Matthew and Philip; five nieces, Sarah, Priscilla, Peggy, Denise and Beth; and five nephews, David, Joe, Billy, Bobby and Lindsay.
Memorials may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1300 India Hook Rd., Rock Hill, SC 29732.
Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel is assisting the Morrison family with all arrangements.
