Orlen E. Mercer, 61, of 2002 Waldemere avenue, a resident of Muncie 44 years, died yesterday at Ball Hospital following an extended illness. He was born in Salem, Ind. Mr. Mercer was a hotter and forman at the Gill Clay Pot Company. He was a member of the Industry U.B. Church, the Muncie Masonic Lodge No. 233 and the Moose.
He is survived by the wife, Mary Alice; two daughters, Mrs. Harold McCammon, and Miss Carolyn June Mercer of Muncie; one son, Pfc. Harold E. Mercer, U.S. Army in Italy; two grandchildren, Phylis Lee and Eddie Gene McCammon; one brother, Heber Mercer, and one sister, Mrs. Roy Anderson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the Industry U.B. Church, the Rev. Forest Reed officiating. Burial will be in Tomlinson Cemetery. Friends may call at the home where the body will be removed from the Meeks mortuary at 6 o'clock this evening.
