Juan Bojorques y Pacheco was baptized at Mission Santa Clara de Asís on September 5, 1811 (SCL Baptism 05900). He was the son of Juan José Bojorques y Trejo and María Petra Pacheco y [?]. His father died of a gunshot wound in San Francisco a few months before he was born. Juan's mother married (2) José Cipriano Bernal y [?] in 1816. died in 1833, Juan took on the job of caring for his widowed mother.

According to Zoeth Skinner Eldredge, Index to the Padrones, Bancroft Library Petra Pacheco is identified as one of the widows living in San José on December 8, 1833 with her children. By the 1840 Padron of San José Juan is listed as single, aged 28, living in the household of his mother along with his Bernal half siblings.

Between the years of 1832 to 1837 Juan Bojorques and Ysidora Galindo became the parents of at least 4 children. In baptismal and their eventual marriage records Juan is identified as the father of those children.

By 1841 Juan began having children with Francisca Padilla. As with his relationship with Ysidora Galindo, the first three children born to Juan Bojorques and Francisca Padilla: Felipa Casimira, Jose Francisco Javier "Frank", and Jose Jacinto de los Reyes (died in infancy) have no fathers listed in their baptismal entries at St Joseph's Catholic Church in San José. Their 4th child: Jose Leonardo is identified as the illegitimate child of Juan Bojorques and Francisca Padilla.

On 29 Apr 1851 Juan Bojorques and Francisca Padilla were married at St Joseph Catholic Church, San José, Santa Clara, California, entry #61. Their marriage can also be found in Vol.A, page 16 of the marriage book at the Santa Clara County Courthouse for the same date.

Two months after his marriage to Francisca Padilla they are both identified in the St Joseph Catholic Church baptisms, #175, as Padrinos/Godparents of Juan Antonio Castro, son of Jose Antonio Maria Castro and Juana Bojorques, eldest child of Juan Bojorques.

Juan and Francisca continue to grow their family adding at least three more sons: Jacinto, Juan de Mata "John", and Manuel, all baptized at St Joseph's in San Jose.

In 1880 Juan, Francisca, and four of their sons are all living on San Carlos St, San Jose and incorrectly identified as having been born in Mexico. Seems the enumerator of that entire area listed almost all the families as being born in Mexico! Que lastima!

Juan lived the rest of his life in San Jose as did most of his family. His Bojorques line goes directly back to Pedro Bojorques, one of the founders of Pueblo San José de Guadalupe in 1777.
