The 10,000th Grumman F6F Hellcat (F6F-5 BuNo 78854) is delivered to Bombing Fighting Squadron 87 (VBF-87) aboard the U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Ticonderoga (CV-14), in May 1945. It was flown by Commader Porter Maxwell, Commanding Officer of VBF-8
