DEATH OF WESLEY GETTY
Wesley Getty died at his home in Larned last Friday morning, after a lingering illness. The funeral was held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the home of his daughter, Mrs. H. M. Reed. The services were conducted by Rev. R. C. Fleming. Interment was in the Larned cemetery.
Wesley Getty was born in Numidia, Columbia county, Pennsylvania, Sept. 17, 1855, and died at Larned June 11, 1909, at the age of 53 years, 8 months and 24 days.
He came to Pawnee county in January, 1878, and was married to Abbie M. Ackert in January, 1879. To this union were born three children, one boy and two girls. The surviving members of the family are the wife and one daughter, Mrs. H. M. Reed. He also is survived by his aged father, three brothers and three sisters.
Mr. Getty was one of the pioneer farmers of the county and suffered the hardships of the early years, and also enjoyed the prosperity of later years. He entered the hardware business in Larned some dozen years ago and had followed that business until he suffered a stroke of paralysis eight or nine months ago. Other strokes followed and the past few months he has been a helpless invalid, dependent entirely upon the care of his wife and a trained nurse.
