1930 - 2012

Gene Raymond "Jack" Hall, age 81, of Big Perry Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2012, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.

Born March 21, 1930, in Olive Hill, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Virgil Hall and Della Henderson Hall.

Gene retired from GTE in 1991 as a telephone technician after 22 years of service. Known to many as Jack, Gene had a strong love of family, God, and friends. He was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church. Gene also had a real love of music—Gospel, Country, and Bluegrass—and encouraged others to enjoy and use their God-given talents. Throughout his life, he wrote many songs, sang, and played guitar. Gene was always showing his love and affection for others and was willing to help in any way he could. He never met a stranger. Gene always had the best outlook on life and loved to fish and hunt. Anyone who knew Gene Jack Hall knew what true friendship was.

He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Quinton Hall, Billy Joe Hall, Hillman Hall; two sisters, Doris Isaacs, Teresa Hall; one grandson, Gene Russell Hall; and one daughter-in-law, Peggy Hall.

Gene is survived by his wife of 56 years, Hazel B. Hall; four children and their spouses, William Michael Hall, Sr., and Barb of Olive Hill, Kentucky, Keith Raymond Hall and Markeeta of Morehead, Kentucky, Donna Hall Dryden and Mark of Winchester, Kentucky, Dwight Stephen Hall and Rhonda of Morehead, Kentucky; two grandchildren, William Michael Hall, Jr., of Big Timber, Montana, and Jeannette Powers of Blue Island, Illinois; and several great grandchildren. Other survivors include two brothers, Tom T. Hall of Franklin, Tennessee, and Larry Hall of Olive Hill, Kentucky; two sisters, Betty Kiser of Columbus, Ohio, and Patty McSherry of Hartville, Tennessee; nieces and nephews; cousins; other loved ones; and numerous friends. He also leaves behind his favorite pet, Buddy.

A memorial service celebrating Gene's life will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 22, 2012, at the First Free Will Baptist with Rev. David Starcher and Rev. Carlos Bowman officiating. Private interment will take place in the Hall Cemetery.
