Paul A. Garriepy, 53, of Mountain View Drive, a 36-year National Guardsman, died Thursday at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.
He was a chief warrant officer in the Pittsfield Battalion of the 104th Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry ("Yankee") Division. He was also a 16-year firefighter and emergency medical technician for the Huntington Fire Department.
Born in Holyoke, he was a 1957 graduate of Holyoke High School, and a majored in business at Holyoke Community College.
He lived here for many years, and was a communicant of St. Thomas's Church. He was also a member of the American Legion in Greenfield.
He leaves his wife, the former Jean M. Daborowski; two sons, John P. and Robert F. of Huntington, and his mother, Lila (LaFond) Garriepy of Holyoke.
A military funeral will be conducted Monday at O'Brien Hilltown Community Funeral Home and the church, with burial in Norwich Bridge Cemetery. Calling hours are before the funeral.
