Nancy Livingston Dixon was the daughter of Thomas Livingston and Elizabeth Higgins of Missouri. The couple with their children then born emigrated to Oregon via the Barlow Road route in 1851. In 1853, Thomas took out a donation land claim near the present site of Dixonville, Oregon, east of Roseburg. Two girls and a boy were born after the couple were in Douglas County. Researchers seem certain that the couple had 13 children

Nancy married Raphael Benton Dixon on May 4, 1873 in Douglas County, OR. They had the following children: William, James, Carrie (Connor), and Raphael Seth.
