Russell Norman Wylie, known as R.N., of Fredericksburg passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at the age of 94. R.N. was born in Vinson, OK on January 19, 1918 to Rush and Thenia Wylie.

In 1941 he married his high school sweetheart Marjorie Summers. They were married 54 years and had three daughters.

In 1941 he was drafted into the US Army and served his country during WWII in North Africa, Italy, France and Germany as a radio operator. He was honorably discharged in 1946 then moved to Sunray, Texas where he worked in the Carbon Black plant. Later he bought a Shamrock Service Station and at the same time bought land and began farming.

In 1958 he moved the family to Corpus Christi, Texas where he worked and retired from the Texas Highway Department in 1976. Shortly after that he and Marjorie moved to Fredericksburg where he has made his home ever since. Upon retirement he enjoyed building and selling homes as well as gardening.

Mr. Wylie is survived by his three daughters Ann Little of Denton TX, Sue Bernsen and husband Leon of Corpus Christi, TX, Jo Jean Ray and husband Mike of Austin TX, sisters-in-law Mickey Little of Fredericksburg, Mary Summers of Irving, TX, and Wanda Wylie of Wichita KS. as well as 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife , his parents, brothers Orville, Roy, and Jiggs and one sister Doris Conway.

Funeral Services will be Monday, February 20, 2012 at 11:00a.m. in the Family Chapel in Greenwood Cemetery with military honors.
