EAGLE RIVER - Charles D. Chadek, 86, formerly of Racine and New Port Richey, Fla., passed away unexpectedly in St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield on Wednesday, August 31, 2011. Charles was born February 20, 1925, in Racine County, the son of Charles Joseph and Sara (nee: Freudenwald) Chadek. He was united in marriage to Evelyn June Septon in 1947 in Racine. June passed away November 22, 1977. A graduate of Horlick High School, Charles farmed and owned and operated Chadek Implement in Husher along with his family for many years. He was also a Realtor with Heritage Realty before retiring to Eagle River, then to Florida, and most recently back to Eagle River. Charles was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church, had been a Volunteer with the Caledonia Fire and Rescue Squad, and a member of the Caledonia Lion's Club. He enjoyed playing cards (especially sheepshead), playing golf, and table tennis. Survivors include his daughters, Judith (Daniel) Kuiper of Eagle River, Debra Grube of Elk Grove Village, Ill., and Sharon (Steven) Gouris of Gurnee, Ill.; five grandchildren, Jacob (Amber) Kuiper, Micah Kuiper, Sarah Gouris, Mary Gouris, and Jonathan Gouris; along with two nieces, other relatives, and friends. Charles was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, June. Funeral services for Charles will be held Friday, September 9, 2011, at 11:30 a.m. in Strouf Funeral Home, Pastor Randal A. Poppe officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive guests in the funeral home on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the services.
