Alberta Premier. He served as the Premier of the province of Alberta, Canada from 1935 until his death in office on May 23, 1943. He was educated at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, where he received his B.A. degree in 1906 and later became a school teacher. In 1915 he became school principal at the Crescent Heights High School in Calgary, Alberta, where he stayed until 1935. In 1918 he also founded the Calgary Prophetic Bible Institute, and became an advocate for the principle of Social Credit, and was elected as a Social Credit candidate and represented the constituency of Okotoks-High River, in the Alberta Legislature. Aberhart also served as the Alberta Attorney General, Minister of Education, and was highly involved in the United Farmers of Alberta Government. The Aberhart Center in Edmonton, Alberta, was named in his honor.
