Delila was a daughter of Rebecca Lankford, who was a widow with 2 daughters in the 1840 Cass County, Georgia census.
Around 1846, Delila and her husband John Scott, took over the farm that she grew up on, and John lived out his life there. Delila stayed beyond 1890.
Delila was a mother at the age of 15 and had 11 children with her husband, John.
She remarried in 1892 to Wiley Bell and moved to Alabama. She outlived Wiley as well, he died in 1900. Delila remained largely independent, drawing Wiley's Civil War pension and selling medicine, and was on her own to an advanced age. She was blessed with a long life, outliving most of her children.
Besides the children listed below, she was also the mother of:
Margaret A. Scott Phillips and Nathaniel B. Forrest Scott.
