Death of a Seaman-By a letter received from George Kent , Esq.,US Consul in Valentia,under date of June 26th, we have the following item:
"Clarence F Bangs, a seaman on board the ship Sunrise of Boston, and son of Capt Freeman H Bangs of Brewster, died at this port of Valentia, June 23rd of consumption.He was an exemplary and promising young man of the age of 19 years.Every kind attention was paid to him during his sickness, and the best of medical aid obtained by Capt Irving upon his arrival here.His remains were interred on the 24th,in the Protestant burial ground,and in the absense of any clergyman of the denomination, I read at the grave,in the presence of the Captain and crew,and several captains and seamen of other American vessels, the appropriate burial service of the Episcopal Church.
