ROY W. GOOKIN, 76, of Memphis, retired employee of Borg Warner Co., and volunteer for the Lewis Center for Senior Citizens for 11 years, died Thursday at his home after a sudden illness. Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial in Memorial Park. He was a member of St. Stephen's United Methodist Church. Mr. Gookin, the husband of Mabel Gookin, also leaves a daughter, Diane La Ban of Madison, Miss.; two sons, Bobby Gookin of Tunica, Miss., and Roy Gookin Jr. of Memphis; a sister, Pearl Butler of Memphis; two brothers, Albert Gookin of Cordova and Ruffis Gookin of Munford, Tenn., and 11 grandchildren.
