Moses-5 was the son of Nathaniel-4 Rawson (1716-1803) and his wife 2) Rachel Daniels (1720-1802).

He was baptized on 5/06/1753 at the 1st Church Congregational, formerly 2d Parish of Mendon, Milford, Worcester, Massachusetts.

Moses was a Veteran of the American Revolution - Corporal Moses Rawson fought four and one-half years in the American Revolution and was with "Mad Anthony Wayne" at Stony Point. According to Revolutionary War Pension Files at the National Archives, he enlisted in the Ninth Regiment of the Massachusetts Line in April,1777 and was discharged at Camp West Point on April 21, 1780. He participated in the siege of Fort Stanwix, and the battles of Stony Point and Saratoga.
