Died at 10:25 p.m. Friday, July 11, 1980, at Golden Age Care Center. He was 79, a native of Brookhaven, Miss., and a resident of Baton Rouge. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday. Religious services at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Joel Hilbun. Burial in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Survived by his wife, Mrs. Lillian Thornhill Brister, Baton Rouge; five daughters, including Mrs. Charlene Reeves of Baton Rouge; three sons, Leland Brister, Gonzales, Cecil and Bill Brister, both of Baton Rouge; three brothers, Melton Brister, Baton Rouge, Winton and Clinton Brister, both of Brookhaven; 24 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by a daughter, Christine Brister; two sons, Clarence and Clifton Brister, and a brother, Elton Brister. He was a Baptist.
