Anne Ursula (Hunt) Wells, 75, suffered a heart attack and passed away suddenly at her residence Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011. She was a resident of Camarillo at the time of her death, having resided in Ventura County for 51 years.

She was born in Leeds, England, Aug. 31, 1936, to Anne (Hardy) Hunt and James Michael Hunt. She was married to Donald William Wells for 40 years.

She is predeceased by her husband and survived by her children, Susan Buhr of Golden, Colo., Julie Williams of Simi Valley and James Wells of Camarillo; her son-in-law, Gary Williams; and her grandchildren, Patrick and Elizabeth Buhr, and Sydney and Lauren Williams; her sister, Jennifer Hunt Ciuccoli of Prospect, Conn.; and several nieces and nephews.

After World War II, Anne immigrated to British Columbia, Canada, with her family in 1949. She had several lengthy illnesses as a child, which sparked her interest in the health care profession. Anne graduated from Notre Dame High School in Vancouver, Canada, and completed X-ray technologist training at St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver, Canada. Anne immigrated to the United States in 1961, settling in Oxnard and worked at St. John's Hospital as an X-ray technologist.

After marrying Donald Wells in Oxnard in 1962, she had three children. The family moved to Camarillo in 1977 after building a one-of-a-kind home in the Las Posas Estates. Anne was proud to become a United States citizen after her children were born. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and sharing her love of dolls with them. Her grandchildren enjoyed having Grandma babysit, so that they could make a Grandma Sandwich. Her daughter Julie remembers her as always being available for a relaxing talk and a nice glass of wine. Her daughter Susan and her grandchildren Elizabeth and Patrick miss her comfortable and warm presence. Anne's Connecticut nieces and nephew remember her as fun-loving and have wonderful memories of her visiting with them and showing them California when they were young. Her sister recalls Anne's gentle sweet nature and for always being there for her when she was growing up.

Her family is grateful to her many friends for the care and companionship they gave to Anne during her life. Many remember her as a fun-loving doll collector, former proprietor of Old Town Dolls in downtown Camarillo and an excellent seamstress. A dedicated craftswoman and collector, Anne was well-known in the California doll and costuming communities. She was president of the Verdugo Doll Club, vice-president of the Pleasant Valley Doll Club, member of the Fiesta Doll Club and a member of the Costumers Guild.

She was a practicing Catholic all of her life, and a parishioner at St. Mary Magdalene Parish for 39 years.

A memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at the St. Mary Magdalene Chapel in Camarillo. A short interment ceremony will follow at the Conejo Mountain Memorial Park, followed by a reception at the home of a family friend. The St. Mary Magdalene Chapel is at 2532 Ventura Boulevard, Camarillo.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Anne's memory are asked to make a charitable donation to the American Heart Association or to the American Diabetes Association .
