Professional Hockey Player. Chiasson was born on April 14, 1967, in Barrie, Ontario, but was raised in Peterborough, Ontario. At 6'01", and 205lbs, he played the position of Defense for teams in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), and the National Hockey League (NHL). Chiasson played for the Guelph Plators (with whom he won the Memorial Cup with in 1986) from 1983 to 1986, Detroit Red Wings from 1986 to 1994, Adirondack Red Wings from 1987 to 1988, Calgary Flames from 1994 to 1997, Hartford Whalers from 1996 to 1997, and the Carolina Hurricanes from 1997 to 1999. In 1985 he was selected by the Detroit Red Wings round 3 #50 overall in the NHL Entry Draft. On May 3, 1999, after celebrating the elimination of the Canes from the 1999 Playoffs at fellow teammate Gary Roberts' house, Chiasson decided to drive home, although he had to much to drink. Later that night he crashed his car in Raleigh, North Carolina, and he was killed instantly. He was only 32 years old, and had left behind a wife and 3 children. A funeral was held in Peterborough, Ontario, and many hockey greats including Wayne Gretzky came to pay there respects.
