William (Bill) Eugene Ballew, age 83 of Maryville passed away Monday, October 11, 2010 at Parkwest Hospital in Knoxville.
He was a veteran of World War II.
Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He was born in Atlanta, Georgia and was a graduate of Georgia Technological University. He moved his family to Maryville, Tennessee and worked at ALCOA where he retired after 31 years.
Preceded in death by: Parents, Julius Burton and Dorothy Elizabeth Mosteller Ballew; Sisters, Doris Ballew Elrod and Evelyn Ballew Thomas; Brothers, Robert L. Ballew and Henry (Bud) Ballew.
Survivors include: Wife, Mary Jo (Jody) Williams Hawkins Ballew; Children, Jennifer K. Ballew, Pamela Ballew and husband Philip D. Matthews, Cynthia Ballew and husband Joseph S. Emert, William Alan Ballew and wife Debra Kuhn Ballew, Jeffrey Eugene Ballew; Step-children, David Luther Hawkins and Rachel Hawkins Gilliland; Grandchildren, Phillip Daniel Matthews, Jr., Lee H. Matthews, Jason F. Emert, Joshua B. Emert, Sarah Ballew, Hannah Ballew, and Mary Ballew; Great-Grandchildren, Breanna Matthews and Hayden D. Matthews; Sisters, Laura Jean Ballew Petty and Helen (Cookie) Ballew Biggerstaff.
Funeral service will be at 7:30 PM, Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at Smith Trinity Chapel. Family and friends will assemble at 1:00 PM, Thursday, October 14, 2010 at Grandview Mausoleum for the entombment. Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:30 PM, Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at Smith Trinity Chapel.
