Ralph E. Bates, 83, of Cumming, went on to his eternal home on February 16, 2012.

He was a deacon at Liberty Grove Baptist Church. He was also a Mason at the Ducktown Lodge.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Vyrsa Bates; son, Jimmy Bates and Cindy; granddaughter, Christina and Robbie Wilson. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2012 at 2:00pm at Liberty Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Bates will be placed in state at the church at 1:30pm. Interment will follow at Liberty Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
