Bryan O. Geouge, met his Lord on March 2, 2004 at his residence. He was born on November 13, 1917 in Yancey County to the late J. Biss and Pansey Hall Geouge. Bryan was an active and faithful member of East Marion United Methodist Church for over 65 years. He was a member of the Marion Lions Club for 50 years, where he served as president three times, and was also named Lion of the Year three times. He was presented the Jack Stickley Award in 2000, which is the highest honor presented to a member of the N.C. Lions Club. He was a WWII Navy veteran, former Boy Scout leader and McDowell County Commissioner. Mr. Geouge was owner and proprietor of Bryan Geouge Industrial Catering located at Marion Manufacturing Co. for over 25 years. He retired from real estate and construction work. In addition to his parents, Mr. Geouge was preceded in death by a son, Travis Flack Geouge; and by four sisters, Grace Geouge Biggerstaff, Avis Irene Geouge, Phyllis Geouge Spratt, and Mafra Geouge Pittman.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mae Stamey Geouge; two sons, William Norris Geouge and wife, Joan Barron Geouge, and Hershel Bryan Geouge and wife Barbara Kimbel Geouge; two daughters, Martha Geouge Hill and husband, Benjamin Wood Hill III, and Cynthia Geouge Davis, and husband, Harold Ray Davis; and daughter-in-law, Marie McBee Geouge; two sisters, Evelyn Geouge Burnette, and Wanda Geouge Wilson, and husband Emmett; one brother Hershel "Ted" Geouge and wife, June. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Bryan Allen Geouge, Mark Travis Geouge, Erich Todd Geouge, Christopher Norris Geouge, Amanda Geouge Jones, Candice Elizabeth Geouge, Rebecca Bryan Hill, Elizabeth Adams Hill, Sarah Elizabeth Davis, and Mary Katherine Davis. Survivors also include five great-grandchildren and a large extended family of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 4, 2004 at 11 a.m. at the East Marion United Methodist Church with the Rev. William Lovelace officiating. The family will receive friends today from 5 to 7 p.m. at Westmoreland Funeral Home. Burial will be in the McDowell Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Marion Lions Club, 104 S. Main St., Marion, N.C. 28752 or to East Marion United Methodist Church, 131 First St. EM, Marion, N.C. 28752.
