SUICIDE - Benjamin Young, an aged citizen of the Highland vicinity, committed suicide Saturday morning by cutting his bowels open with a razor. For some 8 months he had been confined to his room with ulceration of the bowels and at times the pain was so intense as to cause unconsciousness, and it was during one of these spells that he committed the rash deed. The cut was about 7 inches in length and although he was nearly disemboweled, death did not come for 24 hours. When asked why he had attempted suicide, he said he was not aware of having done such a thing and he could not be convinced that the gaping wound in his bowels was made by his own hand. Death came to his relief Sunday morning and Ben Young, once a prominent man of his section, passed from this to another world. Mr. Young was a brother of Mr. Henderson Young, and the other Young's, of Highland, and leaves besides an aged wife, three children, all grown. The deceased was a quiet, hard working man, a good citizen and will be sadly missed in the neighborhood he lived in so long.
