Lena Childs Wise, age 95, of the Three Mile community in Newland, died Friday, November 25, 2011 at Brian Center Health & Rehab in Spruce Pine. Born on September 23, 1916 in Avery County, she was the daughter of the late Leslie and Maude Robinson Childs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of seventy-four years; Lloyd E. Wise who passed away in 2009. She was also preceded in death by a son; David Wise; a son-in-law; C.W. Calloway; a granddaughter; Lisa Calloway; and two brothers; Albert Childs and Manning Childs. She was a member of the Pisgah United Methodist Church.
