Irene passed away at Paramount Court in Turlock on Saturday after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born in Oklahoma to her parents Charley and Katie Holland. In 1934, she moved to Porterville where she met her husband William Allen and they were married in 1942. They lived in Las Vegas where her husband was stationed with the Army Air Corps, and later they moved to Los Angeles and had their son Gary. In 1952, they settled in Turlock where she and William founded Allen Mortuary the same year.
Irene lived a very active life and had many interests including playing tennis, dancing and gardening. In her younger years, she enjoyed waterskiing with her son Gary. She was a member of several bridge clubs and the Turlock American Legion Women's Auxiliary.
She is survived by her son Gary of Turlock; grandchildren Michael (wife Alison) and Elizabeth Allen, all of Turlock; great grandchildren Gabriela, Cadence, Matthew, Faith and Corbin; and siblings Viola Daniele, Ruby Exe, and Cecil Holland, all of Fresno. She is preceded in death by her husband William.
Viewing will be held at Allen Mortuary on Monday, October 12th from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
The funeral service will be held at Allen Mortuary on Tuesday, October 13th at 11:00a.m. with burial to follow at Turlock Memorial Park.
