Jack Russell Bowser 73, of 11211 Elkton-West Point Road, died at 5:12 pm Tuesday in the Salem Community Hospital shortly after becoming ill at his home.
Born September 8, 1916 in Kittanning, Pa. he was the son of Lee Wilson & Mary Viola (Slagle) Bowser. He lived here since 1964 coming from Pennsylvania.
He was a truck driver for Valtran of Lisbon, retiring in 1975. He was a World War II veteran serving with the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of te Lisbon Church of the Nazarene and the Missouri-Tennesse Walking Horse Association.
Survivors include his wife, the former Madelon Mae (Lytle) Bowser, whom he married August 12, 1935; five daughters, Mrs David (Patricia Russella) Eberle and Pamela Kay Reichenbach, both of Escondio, California, Mrs Harry (Shelby Dianna) Glenn and Mrs. William (Linda Marie) Long, both of Lisbon Ohio, Mrs. Dorothy Carolyn Aiken, Vista California, three sons Billie Russell Orville Bowser of Ford City Pennsylvania, Samuel Err Bowser of Lisbon Ohio, and Robert Dale Bowser of Lakeworth Florida, four sisters, Mrs Nick (Permilda Jean) Fryling of Roseland Michigan, Violet Orleana Ruffner of Worthington Pennsylvania, Mrs. Eugene (Florence Viola) Goodgasell and Mrs. William (Phyllis Fern) Dias, both of Grand Rapids Michigan, two brothers Richard Harry Bowser of Roseland Florida, and Leslie Dale Bowser of Grand Rapids Michigan. 22 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
He was preceeded in death by one sister Sylvia G. Wolfe in 1982 , five brothers, Loran Lee Bowser in 1983, Earl Andrew Bowser in 1914, Floyd Victor Bowser in 1967, Andrew Alfred Bowser in 1979 and Finley Lex Bowser in 1988. and one granddaughter Belinda Marie (Long) Burbick in April 29,1989.
Services will be conducted at 11 am Friday at Eells-Leggett Funeral Home by the Rev. William C. Mead of the church. Burial will be in Kimble Cemetery in Elkrun Township.
Friends may call today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the funeral home.
