Maria Paulina (Tia Maria as she was known to many) married Jose (Joe) Castro about 1887 near Firebaugh, Fresno County where they lived and raised their 7 children: Elario, Ventura(Ben), Mariano(Patrick, Basilio (Coyote), Lucy, Teresa, and Domatilla (Dorothy. After Joe's death (sometime between 1905 & before the census was taken in May 1910), Maria continued living with her children, listed as head of house and as a widow. The 1930 census show Maria and her daughter Domie living in the home Maria owns on N Street, Firebaugh, CA, but soon Domie (Dorothy) would marry Henry C Mello and begin her own family in Hollister, San Benito County.
