He was born on Jan. 24, 1937, in Madison. Robert was married 53 years to his high school sweetheart, Norma J. Peterson. He was a longtime resident of Oregon and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1962.
Robert was a successful business owner starting Jenkins Builders in 1962, retiring in 2002. He built many homes and businesses in the Oregon, Brooklyn and Madison areas. Robert was a long time active member of Zor Shrine having joined in 1966, being elected Potentate in 1994. He was a member of Lakeland Shrine Club, Royal Order of Jesters and an original member of the Zor Shrine Wranglers. He was also a member of Scottish Rites, York Rite and Oregon Masonic Lodge 151. He took great pride in all his efforts to support the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Robert was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Jenkins; mother, Dorothy Wade; brother, Kenneth Jenkins Jr.; and brother-in-law, Richard Andersen Sr.
He is survived by his loving wife, Norma; two children, of Oregon, and Portage; three grandchildren, that were his pride and joy; sisters of Oregon, Waukesha, Madison, and Fallbrook, Calif.; sister-in-law, of Madison; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at ST. JOHN'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 625 E. Netherwood, Oregon, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012,.
Burial will be at Prairie Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL HOME, 1150 Park St., Oregon, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, and also at the church from 10 a.m. until time of the service on Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriner's Childrens Hospital or St.John's Lutheran Church.
