The son of Thomas Wilmarth and his second wife, Rebecca (Mason). His father died at Attleborough, MA, May 22, 1759, in his 74th year, while Ebenezer was away fighting in the French and Indian War under Capt. Jonathan Carriel of Sutton.
After that War, Ebenezer married (int. May 26, 1764) Sarah (Sweet), b. Jan. 3, 1736, dau. of John and Sarah (Claflin) Sweet of Attleborough, MA. She d. Oct. 12, 1774, age 39. Five children born of this first marriage, at Attleborough were:
1. Samuel, b. Jan. 24, 1765
2. Ebenezer, b. July 6, 1766
3. Sarah, b. Feb. 15, 1768
4. Esther, b. Oct. 19, 1770
5. Deborah, b. Feb. 11, 1773
On Sept.. 21, 1776, Ebenezer married 2nd Molly (Capron), b. Dec. 12, 1749 at Attleborough, MA, dau. of Jonathan Capron and his wife Rebecca. Molly (Capron) Wilmarth, she d. at Douglas, MA on July 10, 1797, (V.R. of Douglas uses surname Wilmouth).
Their first son, Jonathan Wilmarth , b. Jan. 5, 1778 at Attleborough, MA, while Ebenezer was away, this time in the Rev. War. [Note: son Jonathan and his brother, Barton, moved to Lyme NH after their Mother's death.]
Ebenezer returned to Attleborough from the war, when his son Jonathan was 2 yrs old. Ebenezer and his family later lived in Sutton, MA, where he owned a 40-acre farm. He then moved his family from Sutton, to Douglas, MA. and there these children were born (V.R. Douglas):
