Mr. Palmer was born in Montgomery County on May 22, 1886, the son of Joseph and Martha Fountain Palmer. He had resided in Vidalia for the past nine years, and was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, the former Miss Odessa Rogers; five daughters, Mrs. Charlie Tipton, of Dade City, Fla., Mrs. J.W. Graham and Mrs. Ed Dowling, of Douglas, Mrs. John Tipton, of Glenwood and Mrs. James Thompson, of Ailey; two sons, Joe Palmer, of Vidalia, and Aubrey Palmer, of McRae; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Palmer, of Mt. Vernon, Iron Palmer, of Hazlehurst; and two sisters, Mrs. Mazie Beall, of Hazlehurst, and Mrs. Jim O'Conner, of Kibbee.
