Veteran Civil War, Private, Company A, 187th PA Infantry Regiment (CO A 187th PA Inf); enlisted 25 Feb 1864, lost eye in Battle of Petersburg and was discharged on Surgeon's certificate on 6 Jun 1865. After the war, he moved from his birth home in Tioga County PA to Russell County KS where he was Probate Judge with service in State Legislature, State Treasurer, and government land office receiver.
