Alfred M. Swartz
89, Kansas City, Kan., died Monday, Jan. 11, 1999, at the home. Funeral and Masonic services were held Thursday, Jan. 14, at the Porter Funeral Home. Burial was in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Swartz was born Feb. 13, 1929, in Oklahoma. He was a pressman for many years with the Kansas City Star, then worked for Shawnee Mission East High School before retiring in 1993. Alfred was a member of the Abdallah Shrine where was High Priest and Prophet of the Ritualistic Divan for many years. He was a member of the Scottish Rite and the York Rite Bodies, Wyandotte Lodge No. 3, AF & AM, and a Past Patron of Hyacinth Chapter No. 156, Order of Eastern Star, all of Kansas City, Kan., and a Past Watchman of Shepherds of Madonna Shrine of Jerusalem, Merriam. He was a member and elder of the Grandview Park Presbyterian Church, Kansas City, Kan. Surviving are his wife, Irene Swartz, of the home; two sons, Robert Swartz, Kansas City, Mo., and Charles Swartz, Tucson, Ariz.; one step-son, Gerald Sears, Merriam, Kan.; two sisters, June Cecchi, Olean, N.Y., and Florine Buoy of Oregon; three grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.
